We opened in 1999. Twenty-five years and more than 500 websites later, we’re still in Preston — still building, still learning, still refining what we do.

That longevity matters. Web design has changed enormously in that time from table-based layouts through to responsive design, WordPress-driven CMS builds, headless architecture, and now AI-driven content and generative search. We’ve built websites through every one of those periods. It means we recognise a passing trend when we see one, and we know which fundamentals actually move the needle for a local business trying to promote their business and win work online.

Our approach is straightforward: understand the business first, then design and build around it. A website that looks striking but doesn’t rank, engage, or generate leads isn’t doing its job. We build sites that do all three — and we’ve been doing it in Preston for longer than most of our competitors have been trading.

Our designers and developers work from our office at Nelson Court Business Centre in Ashton-on-Ribble, ten minutes from Preston railway station. Being local matters more than people expect. It means we can meet clients face-to-face for discovery meetings and be at your office within the hour if something urgent comes up.

Every project starts with a clear conversation about what the website actually needs to do. From there, we scope the design and build around three broad types of client:

Sole traders and start-ups.A professional brochure site that establishes credibility, ranks locally, and can grow with the business. Typically launched in 3–5 weeks.

Small and medium-sized businesses.Redesign and rebuild projects that lift an existing site out of the “it does the job but…” bracket. We audit what’s there, keep what works, and rebuild what doesn’t — usually with a measurable improvement in traffic and lead quality within six months.

Retailers and e-commerce.WooCommerce stores built on the same ACF-driven foundation. Fast product pages, secure checkout, sensible integrations and a back office that non-technical staff can actually manage.

Public sector and education. Websites for councils, colleges, charities and statutory bodies where accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), transparency and content governance matter as much as visual design. We build to procurement standards, work to fixed budgets, and understand the sign-off processes that come with public-sector projects. Recent work includes the Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner and St. Francis Xavier Sixth Form College.

If the project needs something outside these — a members’ portal, a data-driven microsite, a headless build — we’ll say so and quote it honestly.

When Tech Advance rebranded to Tech IP, the priority was migrating techadvance.co.uk to tech-ip.co.uk without losing SEO rankings. We replicated the site, implemented 301 redirects on every legacy URL, updated internal and external links and notified Google of the domain change. The result: continuity of search traffic through the transition, and a new brand identity live from day one.

A responsive WordPress build for a Preston-based IT services company, hosted on our dedicated WordPress Business Server. The centrepiece was a well-designed, fast-loading site paired with an ongoing 2024 digital marketing strategy. The site’s still delivering leads today.

A long-term relationship that grew from a rebrand in 2022 into a full-service partnership: brand guidelines, logo creation, a state-of-the-art responsive website, targeted SEO, PPC campaigns, marketing collateral and office signage. NSI now has a consistent brand presence across every touchpoint — digital and physical.

1. Discovery. A proper conversation about the business, the audience, the competition and what “success” looks like six months after launch. Roughly one to two weeks.

2. Design. Wireframes first, then visual design. You’ll see a working prototype before we write a line of code. Usually two to three weeks.

3. Build. WordPress with ACF. Responsive across mobile, tablet and desktop. We bake in SEO fundamentals from the first commit. Three to six weeks, depending on scope.

4. Test and launch. Cross-browser and cross-device testing, load-speed optimisation, security hardening and 301 redirects if we’re replacing an existing site.
